VANCOUVER BOTOX CLINIC
Typically used for wrinkles of the brows (frown lines) and around the eyes, Botox® is made from the same toxin which causes botulism poisoning, but used in tiny doses. This has been used successfully for years to “fine tune” the results of eye squint surgery, and is now applied for cosmetic uses. Injection results in temporary (three to six months) paralysis of the injected muscles. However, it has no effect on longstanding established wrinkles where the skin has been deeply creased.

Side Effects and Safety
As with any medication, potential side effects of Botox® do exist, and vary according to injection site, dose, frequency of injections, and the injector's expertise. Most side effects— such as pain, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site—are temporary and occur within a few days after treatment.

Botox® injections have not been shown to permanently change your muscles or cause any long-term problems. The side effects of Botox® injections are usually exactly what the therapy is supposed to cause: muscle weakness. It's crucial to inject into the right muscle with the appropriate dose. Finding an experienced injector is of utmost importance, as many complications are the result of misplaced injections or too-large doses.

Our Vancouver Botox Clinic is administered by Susan Berna, RN. Sue's gentle, careful manner, and rigoutous nursing experience with injections is a definite advantage over the hurried and often less expert doctor who has simply taken up Botox® for "extra cash."
